Sullivan Generations of African heritage in the United States originated with the colonist by that surname, and as might be expected offspring occurred via both Black and White females during the centuries and decades prior to emancipation from slavery.  And, more than likely all research roads about slave origins lead back to slave breeding Virginia from distant locations like South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia.
