| Cora Lee Hill Atkins was one of many African-American teachers who learned the hard way that most school districts in their new homes north of the Mason-Dixon line had no intention of ever hiring them as teachers or even teacher aides. Generally speaking they were categorized and classified as unqualified for available positions even without being tested or evaluated.
